Independent Ink, Inc. established in 1939 employees a team of R&D chemists with over 50 years combined ink jet development experience. Our Research and Development team which includes PhD Chemists understanding of polymer, thermal, piezo, hot-melt and continuous ink jet applications is poised to analyze and develop the most complex applications for our customers.
Understanding the formulation issues associated with porous and non-porous media and variable speed inkjet printing, Independent Ink, Inc. has been recognized as a leader in the field of ink jet ink technology.
We manufacture both dye based and pigment based inks that are characterized by a wide color gamut, extensive open time and double set “absolute” rated sub micron filtration. Utilizing our proprietary UV7® fade resistant technology, these inks are durable and well suited for outdoor applications.
Independent Ink, Inc. (est. 1939) Marking Ink Division began as a subcontractor of specialty inks for Government and Military applications. Our trademark 73x® marking inks have unique and proprietary adhesive characteristics that allow for permanent markings even when subjected to years of direct sunlight, solvent abrasion, and chemical exposure.
Independent Ink, Inc. may be best known for its series of marking inks that were developed specifically for use on the NASA manned spacecraft. These inks incorporated a unique feature which did not outgas thus keeping the air quality of the space capsules safe to breath for the astronauts. Our inks can be seen prominently displayed at the Smithsonian’s Air & Space Museum in Washington DC.
Today, our Marking Inks Division is the preferred provider to the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers (both commercial and military) for their parts marking and is on virtually every specification for military, ordinance, tanks/land-craft, equipment and transport apparatus.
In addition, our Marking Division has been instrumental in the development of custom ink formulations used by the Department of Treasury, INS, Homeland Security, Government Printing Services, foreign currency printing operations. In 1996 our Anti-counterfeit Identification and Authentication Section (AIAS) was folded into the Marking Inks Division to compliment the development expertise associated with custom packaging for cosmetic, pharmaceutical, electronics, software and other specialty applications.
